OTL EXAMINATIONS

The OTL exam fee is $225 plus HST (for each time you write) and must be paid for at time of registration. To register, please complete the OTL exam registration form with your credit card information and fax it to (416) 362-8081, or you can mail the completed form with a company cheque (made out to the Insurance Institute of Ontario) to the Insurance Institute of Ontario, 18 King Street East, 16th floor, Toronto, ON M5C 1C4, Attn: OTL Coordinator. You will receive a receipt via email. Your receipt will also contain your exam confirmation information detailing the location, time and what to bring.

Every effort will be made to accommodate students on their preferred date; however, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. For exams occurring outside of Toronto, exam registration requests must be received no later than three (3) business days prior to the exam (see exam schedules below). For exams in Toronto, the request must be received no later than 10 a.m. on the business day prior to the exam. Unfortunately, late requests cannot be accommodated.

- You need company sponsorship to obtain your licence, but do not need to be sponsored to write the exam.
- You have one (1) year from the day you pass the exam to get a sponsor for the licence.
- You must get a minimum of 75% on the exam to pass.
- The exam is 2 hours long and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions.
- There is no limit to the number of times a candidate may attempt the OTL exam. However, the exam fee must be paid for each attempt.
- On the day of the exam, please come prepared with a copy of your confirmation/receipt, a pencil, eraser, non-programmable calculator, and government-issued photo identification (i.e., passport, driver's licence, etc.).
- Students will be allowed to enter the exam up to 30 minutes after the exam commences; however, no additional time will be given. Any students arriving after that time will be required to reschedule.

Exam Schedules

Toronto: OTL exams every Monday and Wednesday mornings. Holidays excepted.

Outside Toronto: OTL exams are typically held on the third Monday of every month.(Please contact us for specific schedules for Hamilton, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Owen Sound, Ottawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timmins.

*Insurance Learning Solutions cannot register a student to write their OTL Exam. Each student must register to write their exam by contacting the Insurance Institute of Canada at 1-866-362-8585 or otlexam@insuranceinstitute.ca.
